The Frasers own the North Country General Store, which has been operating for about a month. The name is from an old Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan song about coming back to the North Country to visit the love of your life.
“This is our new love,” Alex said.
The Frasers moved to Jamaica because they were looking for a place to accommodate the needs of their new family. Alex grew up in the Dorset and Manchester area. She’s lived in Burlington, New York and San Francisco. In Burlington she met Dean. Dean is much more practical-minded, according to Alex.
“It’s hard being creative and running a business,” she said of herself. “He’s the one who keeps us grounded and I’m the one who comes up with all the crazy ideas.”
She said they always dreamed of having their own general store. Dean grew up visiting his grandmother’s general store in Lake George, N.Y.
