Somerset Reservoir Hiking Trail on Deerfield River Perfect for Hiking and Mountain Biking
This 9.6-mile hike is longer than it is difficult, with a vertical rise of just 460 feet. Perfect for hiking and mountain biking. So, from the intersection of VT-9 and VT-100 go west approximately 6 miles to Somerset Rd (right). Continue for about 10 miles to the end of the road. You’ll find a parking area along with the East Branch Trailhead in 2 miles.
Somerset Reservoir Hiking Trail is located on the east branch of Deerfield River in the unincorporated town of Somerset and the town Stratton Vermont. The lake is approximately 5 miles long, covers 1568 acres, and is one of the few large lakes found within the Green Mountain State. The area surrounding the lake is largely undeveloped and views span Mount Snow, Haystack Mountain. Somerset Reservoir Hiking Trail is an out and back trail, passing by the 1850 Somerset School House and cemetery at least as old.
